Mark Salling’s cause of death has been revealed, after his body was found at a park in the San Fernando Valley.

According to E! News, the Los Angeles Coroner has confirmed that the cause of death was asphyxia by hanging, and the manner of death is suicide.

The actor, who played Noah ‘Puck’ Puckerman in the hit series Glee from 2009 to 2015, commit suicide while he was awaiting sentence for possession of child pornography.

The 35-year-old admitted to downloading 50,000 images of child pornography on his computer, he also had 4,000 photos and 1,600 videos on a thumb drive – and his sentencing was set to take place in March.

After the news of his death broke, a number of cast and crew members from Glee spoke out.

“I know life was very, very hard for Mark,” Jane Lynch told Us Weekly. “I think we all do the best we can at the end of the day. I know that Mark did the best he could.”

In a statement on Tuesday, the actor’s lawyer confirmed his death in a statement.

“Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment. He is survived by his mother and father, and his brother. The Salling family appreciates the support they have been receiving and asks for their privacy to be respected.”
