Mandy Moore has revealed that she felt like she was “drowning” during her marriage to Ryan Adams.
The actress wed the singer-songwriter in 2009 before they divorced in 2016.
Mandy has now opened up about their relationship, after The New York Times reported that the FBI are allegedly investigating multiple claims of sexual misconduct against the singer – claims which he has continued to deny.
“I had no sense of self. I felt like I was drowning. It was so untenable and unsustainable and it was so lonely. I was so sad. I was lonely with him,” the actress said on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast.
Mandy went on to say that the marriage could “not sustain itself” if she worked full-time and continued: “I would do little jobs – it’s not like I completely stopped working.”
“But it would become abundantly clear while I was working, things would completely fall apart at home. I couldn’t do my job because there was a constant stream of trying to pay attention to this person who needed me and wouldn’t let me do anything else.”
The 34-year-old has also shared posts from a number of a women who have made allegations against her ex-husband on social media in recent days and thanked them for their “condor and bravery”.
