This MAJOR movie star could play the Genie in Disney’s live-action Aladdin reboot

Aladdin is getting a live-action movie reboot – and a huge actor is being tapped to star in it.

According to Deadline, Will Smith is in talks to play the iconic Genie in the retelling of the classic tale.

Robin Williams, who tragically committed suicide in 2014, famously voiced the character in the 1992 Disney film.

Will is apparently only in the early stages of talks to appear in the live-action musical, which is set to be directed by Guy Ritchie.

He previously had been discussing starring in Tim Burton’s Dumbo, but ultimately the negotiations didn’t work out.

If Will agrees to appear in Aladdin, he will have to commit to a six month shoot which is set to begin in the UK in July.

The live-action reboots have so far been a huge success for Disney, with Beauty and the Beast already surpassing $1billion at the box office worldwide since its release last month.

Maleficent, Cinderella and The Jungle Book have also been big hits, and Disney is working on several other much-anticipated projects, including a Cruella de Vil spinoff that Emma Stone is slated to star in, and a Mary Poppins sequel starring Emily Blunt.
