Lucy Hale has said sorry to her disappointed fans after she caused backlash by calling herself “fat” on Instagram.
The Pretty Little Liars star shared a flashback photo with her dad in honour of Father’s Day, captioning it, “You taught me to have soul. I love you daddy.”
But social media users were not happy when Lucy wrote in the comment section below, “Ugh I was so fat.”

The 28-year-old turned off the comments on the photo and apologised on Twitter, admitting that she should be more careful about what she says, especially for her fans.
“Sometimes I forget that people are watching everything I do and I say things I don’t mean,” she tweeted. “I’m extremely sorry if my comment about my weight offended anyone.
“Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. I know people look up to me and I should be way more aware of what I say sometimes. Thanks for all the love and support. Hope y’all can forgive me!”

Back in 2012, the actress opened up about her past battle with an eating disorder, telling Cosmopolitan, “I’ve never really talked about this, but I would go days without eating.
“Or maybe I’d have some fruit and then go to the gym for three hours. I knew I had a problem…It was a gradual process but I changed myself.”
Lucy shot to fame after being cast as Aria in Pretty Little Liars, which will air its season finale next week, and she will then star in comedy-drama series Life Sentence on The CW.
