In 2016 Charlie Puth shouted “F*ck Justin Bieber!” in a performance of We Don’t talk Anymore and now we know why.
The singer revealed he was part of a love triangle with Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber at the time.
Speaking to Billboard he disclosed that dating Selena “really messed [him] up”.
The See You Again singer said his relationship with her was “very short-lived, very small, but very impactful.”
Credit: Instagram @CharliePuthFans speculated for years that they had been romantically linked as they found it strange that Selena did not appear in the We Don’t Talk Anymore video but instead, a woman who looked very similar to Gomez featured.
Their fling fell apart because she “wanted the attention of somebody else. When [he] found that out and [they] ended it.
Attention is the name of the first single that Puth says made him “feel like an artist.”
That somebody else she wanted attention from was her current beau Bieber.
Puth also went on to reveal that he got a bit too wild for a while at the beginning of his career.
“I’d never seen so much marijuana in my life,” he says about working with Wiz Khalifa.
He also describes a six-hour bad trip he had on tour with Jason Derulo in 2014.
After eating “like, a pound of marijuana cookies” he claims he nearly died.
Back focused now and steering clear of all that his second album Voice Notes will be released in May.
