Lori Loughlin ‘didn’t know the legalities’ of alleged involvement in college admissions scandal

Lori Loughlin reportedly “didn’t know the legalities” of her alleged involvement in the college admissions scandal.

Earlier this month the actress and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli pleaded not guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and honest services mail and wire fraud, and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.

The couple were accused of agreeing to “pay bribes totalling $500,000” to ensure their two daughters were guaranteed a place on USC’s crew team.

A source has now told People that the parents allegedly didn’t know that what they were doing was a illegal and were shocked to find out they had been involved in the legal scandal.

“They really didn’t know the legalities of what was going on. They’re not lawyers and they’re not experts. They were parents who simply wanted to make sure that their daughters got into a good school,” the source claimed.

They added that the couple didn’t “entirely” know what was going on and continued: “Calling in favours, donating money to the alumni association, hiring consultants. Those are all things that parents do.”

Lori is just one of 50 people – including actress, Felicity Huffman – who have been charged with allegedly being involved in the scandal.
