Lorde has apologised after she compared her friendship with Taylor Swift to being friends with someone with an auto-immune disease.
In an interview with The Guardian, the 20-year-old star was asked what it’s like to be friends with someone as famous as Taylor Swift.
“It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do,” she replied. “There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an auto-immune disease.”
Lorde’s comments caused uproar on Twitter, and the Royals singer was asked how her statement would affect Taylor’s famous pal Selena Gomez,  who has auto-immune disease lupus.

“I wonder how @selenagomez feels about this. What an incredibly ignorant analogy to make @lorde,” one person tweeted.
Lorde has since responded, and wrote back, “Didn’t mention taylor, but regardless, i f**ked up & that was really insensitive. i’m sorry.”
