Lady Gaga called to testify in ongoing legal battle between Dr Luke and Kesha

Lady Gaga has been called to testify at a live deposition in the ongoing legal battle between Dr. Luke and Kesha.

The music producer, real name Lukasz Gottwald, issued a subpoena to Lady Gaga as part of the ongoing defamation lawsuit against Kesha, who accused him of sexual assault.

“In connection with Dr. Luke’s defamation claims against Kesha, various third parties are being deposed by both sides, including celebrities,” Dr. Luke’s legal representative said in a statement.

“Dr. Luke’s counsel served a subpoena on Lady Gaga because she has relevant information regarding, among other things, false statements about Dr. Luke made to her by Kesha. This motion has become necessary because Dr. Luke’s counsel has not been able to obtain, despite repeated request[s], a deposition date from Lady Gaga.”

According to Variety, the Born This Way singer’s legal team have since responded with a statement.

“As Lady Gaga‘s legal team will present to the court, she has provided all of the relevant information in her possession and is at most an ancillary witness in this process.

“Dr. Luke’s team is attempting to manipulate the truth and draw press attention to their case by exaggerating Lady Gaga‘s role and falsely accusing her of dodging reasonable requests,” they added.

Lady Gaga was one of Kesha’s most vocal supporters, when Kesha initially sued Dr Luke in 2014.

The singer accused Dr. Luke of “sexually, physically, verbally, and emotionally” abusing her, but the judge denied the singer an injunctive that would cut professional ties to him.

According to TMZ, the subpoena sent to Lady Gaga regards a “heavily redacted” text conversation between her and Kesha.

Gaga offered a written statement, but Dr. Luke’s team want to question her in person.
