Kristen Stewart opens up about the pressure of playing Princess Diana in upcoming film

Kristen Stewart has opened up about the pressure of playing Princess Diana in an upcoming film.

The actress will portray the late princess in a biopic called Spencer, which is centred around Diana’s decision to leave Prince Charles and her decision to veer from her path to becoming queen.

Production is set to begin at the start of 2021, with Kristen eager to research the role as much as possible until then.

Speaking to InStyle, the 30-year-old said: “In terms of research, I’ve gotten through two and a half biographies, and I’m finishing all the material before I actually go make the movie.”

“It’s one of the saddest stories to exist ever, and I don’t want to just play Diana—I want to know her implicitly.

“I haven’t been this excited about playing a part, by the way, in so long,” she admitted.

Kristen admitted that she was nervous about pulling off Diana’s accent: “The accent is intimidating as all hell because people know that voice, and it’s so, so distinct and particular.

“I’m working on it now and already have my dialect coach.”

The story will follow Princess Diana in one of her final Christmas holidays with the House of Windsor in the Sandringham estate.

Director Pablo Larraín previously spoke to Deadline about why the Twilight star was perfect for the role, “Kristen is one of the great actors around today.

“Kristen can be many things, and she can be very mysterious and very fragile an ultimately very strong as well, which is what we need”, he added.

“The combination of those elements made me think of her.”
