Kim Kardashian responds to backlash over new Kimono shapewear

Kim Kardashian has responded to the backlash her new underwear brand Kimono has received.

Some followers of the KUWTK star took issue with the name of her brand, labeling it as culturally insensitive.

The name is reflective of the Japanese traditional garment, usually used for ceremonies.

The name of the shapewear brand is a play on Kim’s moniker.

A source told TMZ that the brand name is not reflective of the products it creates.

Kim has reportedly said that she will not be creating kimono-like garments under her new brand.

“Nice underwear, but as a Japanese woman who loves to wear our traditional dress, kimono, I find the naming of your products baffling (since it has no resemblance to kimono) if not outright culturally offensive, especially if it’s merely a word play on your name,” one tweeted.

“Kimono is a Japanese word. You can’t trademark it. Just stop,” said another.

The line includes an innovative shapewear solutions in a range of skin tones.
