Kim Kardashian branded a ‘hypocrite’ for supporting Demi Lovato

The singer called out a fat-shaming ad on Instagram

Kim Kardashian has been branded a “hypocrite” for supporting Demi Lovato, after she called out a fat-shaming ad on Instagram.

Last night, the 26-year-old, who has been open about her struggle with bulimia in the past, slammed Instagram for allowing an “absolutely harmful” ad to appear on their app.

The singer shared a screenshot of the ad, which was for a video game, and it showed two animated women – one labelled ‘pretty’ and the other ‘obese’.

Demi wrote: “Why is this fat shaming bullshit on my feed? So many things wrong with this ad. 1. You can be ‘pretty’ at any weight.”

“This is absolutely harmful to anyone who is easily influenced by societal pressures put on us from the diet culture to constantly be losing weight in a world that teaches us to equate our value and worth with the way we look and especially anyone in recovery from an eating disorder.”

Demi then demanded that Instagram remove the “disgusting advertisement”, before explaining, “With how aware people are becoming of mental health and mental illnesses, I expect you guys to know better by allowing this advertisement to be allowed on your app. And shame on the game.”

Instagram have since apologised, and removed the advert.

Following her posts on Instagram, Demi tweeted: “Just called out Instagram and some bullshit game on my insta stories.. go check it out. Always speak up for what you believe in!”

Showing her support for Demi’s message, Kim Kardashian then reposted her tweet alongside a series of clapping emojis.

However, fans were quick to point out Kim’s hypocrisy, as she was promoting meal replacement shakes on Instagram just two days ago.

One person replied, “You can’t clap at this when you ‘use’ flat tummy tea,” while another wrote, “Queen of hypocrisy goes to…..”

Another pointed out that she promoted “appetite suppressant lollipops” last year.
