Kendall Jenner sued for $1.8million for ‘breach of modelling contract’

Kendall Jenner has been sued for $1.8million for allegedly breaching a modelling contract.

According to E! News, fashion house Liu Jo filed a legal complaint at a New York City court on Monday, claiming the model failed to appear at the second of two planned photo shoots.

In the lawsuit obtained by the publication, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was to be paid a total of $1.5 million for both shoots, plus a 20 percent service fee.

Liu Jo claimed that Kendall took part in the first shoot in July 2019, and that they had already paid her $1.35 million by February the following year.

The second photoshoot was due to take place in London in March last year, but the 25-year-old was unable to travel for the shoot due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the lawsuit, both parties agreed to postpone the shoot to Autumn but they had not confirmed a new date.

The company claims Kendall “ceased responding” to them until they “informed her that it considered her in breach of the contract and that, therefore, the contract was terminated.”

The complaint also claims they filed the complaint after “having no success in obtaining a refund” Kendall allegedly owed.

Liu Jo claims that after the reality star proposed to postpone the shoot to October, they learned that she “would be traveling to Italy in September 2020 to perform a photo shoot for a different designer”.

The fashion house included a link in their complaint to an article that appeared to show Kendall arrive at a Versace shoot in Italy that month.

They claimed that after Kendall “continued to fail to respond to urgent requests and communications relating to the logistics” of the proposed mid-October photo shoot, they told her “she was in breach of her obligations under the agreement.”

According to the complaint, Kendall told the company two days later she was not in breach of the deal and that it was “impossible” for her to travel to Italy that autumn.

The company says according to the terms of their contract, at least its first and second payments to Kendall must be refunded because she did not attend the second photo shoot and it allegedly could not be rescheduled to a mutually convenient date.

The lawsuit says: “Due to Ms. Jenner’s refusal to negotiate in good faith, Liu Jo was forced to find replacement models and restructure its entire Spring/Summer 2021 photoshoot [sic]—at great expense to Liu Jo due to Ms. Jenner’s refusal to uphold her end of the bargain.”

Liu Jo are seeking at least $1.8 million in damages.

A spokesperson for The Society Management, who represent Kendall,  told E! News: “This suit is without merit.”

“The Society Management, on behalf of Ms. Kendall Jenner, has continually offered Liu Jo alternative dates and locations to fulfill an agreement that was forced to be delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.”

“Jenner has willingly offered to complete services honoring her commitments.”

Kendall was named highest-paid model in the world in 2018 by Forbes, who reported she had $22.5million in annual earnings.
