Katy Perry shares support for Ellen DeGeneres – as her show is investigated over ‘toxic workplace’ allegations

The singer has spoken out to defend the chat show host

Katy Perry has shared her support for Ellen DeGeneres, amid allegations surrounding her and her popular chat show.

The Ellen Show is currently undergoing an internal investigation by WarnerMedia, after BuzzFeed News published accounts from current and former staff members, who alleged they were subjected to a “toxic work environment” while working on the show.

Amid the scandal, Katy took to Twitter to defend the 62-year-old.

She wrote: “I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow.”

“I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love & a hug, friend @TheEllenShow,” she added.

Katy has appeared on Ellen’s chat show multiple times, and last appeared on the show in September 2019.

Last week, the TV host issued an apology to staff members who work on The Ellen Show, after former employees described the workplace environment as “toxic.”

After Ellen’s apology hit headlines, actor and comedian Brad Garrett slammed her on Twitter.

He wrote: “Sorry but it comes from the top ⁦@TheEllenShow. Know more than one who were treated horribly by her.⁩ Common knowledge.”

Aside from the Buzzfeed article, Ellen has also faced accusations about her being “cold” and “mean” over the past few months.

On the latest episode of Goss Chats, Goss.ie CEO Ali Ryan chats to Alan Hughes about life during the coronavirus pandemic.

The TV presenter admits working on Ireland AM has been a “life saver” over the past few months, and opens up about his fears over the future of his Cheerios Panto.

Goss Chats is sponsored by top aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve.
