Katy Perry says ‘all the awards’ she has won ‘are fake’

Katy Perry doesn’t care about winning awards.

The pop star has branded the ceremonies and the prizes themselves as “fake” in a new interview.

“All the awards shows are fake, and all the awards that I’ve won are fake,” she told The New York Times.

Katy explained that she doesn’t think the trophies accurately represent audiences, adding, “They’re constructs.”

The singer has received a huge amount of accolades during her career, including a Brit Award, five MTV Video Music Awards and five American Music Awards.

Katy also has 14 People’s Choice Awards and five Teen Choice Awards, and has been nominated for 13 Grammys.

During the interview the Chained to the Rhythm hit-maker also discussed her evolving image – which includes super short blonde hair – and music following the release of her latest album Witness.

“I didn’t kill her, because I love her, and she is exactly what I had to do then,” she said in response to critics of the new Katy.

“And I’m not a con artist, I didn’t con people, like, that was just me. And this is me now.”
