Justin Bieber said there is “no competition” between him and Shawn Mendes.
Shawn took to Instagram to share a picture of himself on the cover of The Observer Magazine, which had ‘Prince of Pop’ written across it.
While many celebs and fans congratulated the 20-year-old on the magazine cover, Justin commented: “Hmm ” Gonna have to break a few more records to dethrone my title there bus (canadian voice).”
“But if you want we can play hockey for it but i heard your [sic] a real bender on the ice we could just drop the buckets and tilt for it,” he joked.
The 25-year-old’s comment sparked speculation amongst fans, as many claimed that there was bad blood between the singers.
Justin was forced clarify that there is no feud and took to the comment section once again to write: “There is no competition and it was a playful joke people relax.. there’s no sides we’re all just here to make dope music.”
“I’m just competitive as is he so it was just a little playful jargon,’ he added.
The singer’s comments come just one month after he responded to fans, as Shawn liked a photo of Hailey on Instagram.
Some fans accused the 20-year-old of flirting with the model by liking the photo, but Justin defended the singer and said: “Their [sic] friends, relax.”
Shawn and Hailey never confirmed their romance, but spent a lot of time together in 2017 and 2018, and last year Shawn told Rolling Stone that he didn’t want to put a label on their relationship.
“I don’t even wanna put a title on it. I think it was more of a zone of limbo,” he said.
