Jussie Smollett’s attorney ‘wants brothers allegedly involved in the attack to be investigated’

Jussie Smollett’s attorney, Patricia Brown Holmes has called on the Chicago Police Department to investigate two brothers who were allegedly involved in the actor’s attack.

The brothers’ lawyer previously told Good Morning America that they were allegedly asked to carry out the attack on Jussie as a “favour” to him.

Jussie was originally charged with 16 counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report – but as of Tuesday, all  charges against him have been dropped.

The Empire star’s attorney has now asked for the brothers to be investigated, as she said in a statement: “The two men who attacked him have indicated that they attacked him, so we already know who attacked him.”

The prosecutor who led the investigation into the attack, Joseph Magats told CBS Chicago he “does not believe” that Jussie is innocent – but the actor has continued to deny that he “staged” the attack.

Speaking outside court on Tuesday, Jussie said: “I have been truthful and consistent on every single level since day one. I would not be my mother’s son if I was capable of one drop of what I have been accused of.”

“This has been an incredibly difficult time, honestly one of the worst of my entire life, but I am a man of faith and I am a man that has knowledge of my history and I would not bring my family, our lives, or the movement through a fire like this, I just wouldn’t.”
