Judge sets R. Kelly’s bail at $1 million

Judge John Lyke set R. Kelly’s bail at $1 million after the singer was charged in connection with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse.

The singer turned himself into the police yesterday and his lawyer said that he “is an innocent man” and claimed that the accusers “are lying.”

The 52-year-old’s bail has been set at $1 million and he has also been ordered not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18, and must surrender his passport.

While his bail is set at $1 million, the singer only needs to pay $100,000 to secure his release.

On Friday,  the Cook County state’s attorney, Kimberly Foxx said that three out of the four victims who Kelly has been accused of sexually abusing were under the age of 17.

The singer has faced decades of sexual abuse allegations and the charges against him come just weeks after the release of docu-series, Surviving R. Kelly which included detailed accounts of several sexual abuse allegations.
