Johnny Depp told London’s High Court today that a “defecation incident” was a “fitting end” to his relationship with Amber Heard.

The 57-year-old took the witness stand for the fourth day of his libel trial against The Sun newspaper today, over a 2018 article that labelled him a “wife beater”.

The Sun’s publisher News Group Newspapers are defending the article’s publication by trying to prove that he was abusive towards his ex-wife Amber, but Johnny has maintained that he wasn’t.

In court today, accusations that Amber “defecated” in Johnny’s bed were brought up, as NGN’s legal team tried to suggest it was one of the couple’s two Yorkshire terriers.

Sasha Wass, representing NGN, suggested one of the dogs “had problems with their toilet habits”, but Johnny claimed it was “not left by a three or four pound dog”.

Johnny said a cleaner found the faeces in his bed, after he and Amber had gotten into a row over him being late to her 30th birthday celebrations.

Sasha Wass then suggested the actor initially found the incident “hilarious”, and that “there were jokes like ‘Amber Turd’, ‘Amber in the dumps’ going on.”

Johnny responded: “It was one of the most absurd, unexpected statements that I have ever witnessed in my life so, yes, initially I did laugh because it was so strange.”

Johnny said that despite having “very strong feelings for Ms Heard at the time”, he “made the difficult decision not to see her anymore” after the incident.

The court heard a text sent from Johnny to Amber after the incident, reading: “You never f***ing loved me, it was all just convenience… I hope our divorce is quick… I will miss our beauty and truth… Goodbye.”

“[The incident was] a fitting end to the relationship,” Johnny stated.

In court today, Johnny also denied claims he threw a champagne bottle at Amber during a row on her 30th birthday.
