Johnny Depp denies throwing wine glass at Amber Heard during Thanksgiving dinner

Johnny Depp has denied throwing a wine glass at Amber Heard during a Thanksgiving dinner incident in 2015.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star took the witness stand for the fifth and final time in his libel trial against The Sun newspaper today, over a 2018 article that labelled him a “wife beater”.

The Sun’s publisher News Group Newspapers are defending the article’s publication by trying to prove that he was abusive towards his ex-wife Amber, but Johnny has maintained his innocence.

This morning, London’s High Court heard the 57-year-old deny accusations that he was abusive towards his ex-wife during a Thanksgiving dinner which saw the star rip her clothing and throw “a wine glass” at her.

During the incident in LA in November 2015, Johnny is alleged to have “thrown Heard around the room, ripped her clothing and thrown a wine glass and decanter at her, shattering glass and wine on to the bed and causing serious injuries to her”.

The actor denied these accusations, stating it was his ex-wife who was the aggressor on this occasion and claimed she was the one who attacked him.

He agreed that during the argument the couple may have “bumped foreheads” unintentionally.

The court heard from the nurse who handled Amber’s injuries following the incident, who stated the 34-year-old had “an actively bleeding lip”, a bruised forehead, bruised eye and headache.

Amber claimed that Johnny had pulled out “clumps of her hair” during the incident, but the nurse recorded no signs of damage to the actress’ scalp.

The nurse claimed she advised Amber to seek medical help, as she did not go to the hospital for her injuries.

Johnny claimed that in his entire lifetime of 57 years, he has never hit a woman.

Last week, he told London’s High Court that a “defecation incident” was a “fitting end” to his relationship with Amber.

The actor denied he was ever violent towards his ex-wife, and has accused her of abusing him during their marriage.

The trial is expected to continue over the next three weeks.
