Jenna Dewan has recalled the heartbreaking moment she realised her relationship with Channing Tatum was over.

After meeting on the set of their 2006 film Step Up, Jenna and Channing tied the knot in 2009, and later welcomed a daughter named Everly.

But after almost nine years of marriage, the couple announced their shock split in April 2018.

Writing about their break up in her new book, Gracefully You: How to Live Your Best Life Every Day, Jenna revealed they decided to divorce in January of that year – but kept it a secret for three months.

Jenna wrote: “I’d come to realise the dynamic I was in wasn’t serving me nor was it serving my daughter.

“First and foremost, I had to accept the realisation this isn’t working and had moved into hurting.”

Jenna said their split was particularly difficult, as fans had so much love for them as a couple.

“The public saw Channing and I in this idealised romanticised light,” she continued. “This made things difficult for me because I like being as honest and real as I can.”

Jenna and Channing announced their split in April 2018 by releasing a joint statement, which said: “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together.”

“Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.”

“There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision – just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.”

Following their split, Channing started dating British singer Jessie J.

Meanwhile, Jenna got engaged to Broadway actor Steve Kazee, and the couple welcomed a son named Callum back in March.
