James Corden set to host the Tony Awards for a SECOND time

James Corden has been announced as this year’s host for the Tony Awards.

The talk show host is no stranger to the theatre awards show, as he presented them in 2016.

He also won the Tony for Best Actor in a Play for his performance in ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ back in 2012.

Speaking to Variety, James said: “The Broadway community is very dear to my heart, and I’m beyond proud to be part of this incredibly special night.”

Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President of Specials, Music and Live Events at CBS confirmed the news, saying: “We are excited to have the one and only James Corden return to host his second Tony Awards.”

“James is the ultimate master of ceremonies to lead a night of live event television, celebrating live theater. He is an incredibly charming host, brilliant performer and fearless on stage – with James, anything can happen, and probably will.”

The 2019 ceremony will mark the 73rd anniversary of the Tony Awards, which will be aired on June 9 on CBS.
