The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show won’t be going ahead this year.

The news was confirmed by the chief financial officer and executive vice president of L Brands, which owns Victoria’s Secret, during a conference call on Thursday.

When asked if the fashion show would be held this year, Stuart Burgdoerfer said: “No, we’ll be communicating to customers, but nothing that I would say is similar in magnitude to the fashion show.”

“We think it’s important to evolve the marketing of Victoria’s Secret,” he added.

Victoria’s Secret Angel Shanina Shaik sparked rumours that the show was cancelled back in July.

During an interview with Australia’s Daily Telegraph, Shanina said: “Unfortunately, the Victoria’s Secret Show won’t be happening this year.”

“It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an Angel.”

When asked why the show wasn’t going ahead this year, she suggested it might be because “they’re trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show.”

The show has come under fire in recent years, as many have called out the brand’s alleged lack of inclusivity.

Earlier this year, former VS Angel Karlie Kloss spoke out about cutting ties with the brand.

At the time, she said: “The reason I decided to stop working with Victoria’s Secret was I didn’t feel it was an image that was truly reflective of who I am and the kind of message I want to send to young women around the world about what it means to be beautiful.”
