Hillary Clinton speaks out to defend Meghan Markle

"The way she's been treated is inexplicable..."

Hillary Clinton has publicly defended Meghan Markle, and said the way she’s been treated by the British press is “inexplicable”.

During a new interview, the former First Lady was asked about Meghan’s decision to take legal action against the UK Mail On Sunday, after they published a private letter she wrote to her father.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, the 71-year-old said: “I do want to say that the way she’s been treated is inexplicable.”

“If the explanation is that she’s biracial, then shame on everybody,” before saying she believes Meghan’s race is “certainly part of it.”

Hillary’s daughter Chelsea also defended the Duchess of Sussex.

She said: “She proudly had a career first and has a voice that she thankfully continues to use.”

“Anyone who has the temerity to break the mold of what has previously been established and expected often, unfortunately, receives criticism and bile that I don’t understand. We’ve seen this pattern repeatedly.”

“I don’t know her, but as someone who respects her, I’m so grateful that she persists, and is unbowed, and is doing work she feels called to do. And isn’t willing to be bullied,” Chelsea added.

Prince Harry confirmed his wife’s plan to sue the UK Mail on Sunday earlier this month, in a personal statement posted on their website.

And just a few days later, news broke that Harry is taking legal action against The Sun and The Daily Mirror over alleged phone hacking.
