Hilary Duff has confirmed the Lizzie McGuire reboot has been cancelled.
The actress rose to fame following the success of the hit Disney Channel show, which ran from 2001 until 2004.
Last year, the 33-year-old revealed a reboot was in the works, which would see her reprise her role as now 30-year-old millennial Lizzie, as she navigated life in New York City.
Taking to her Instagram on Wednesday, Hilary admitted she was “very sad” to announce that the planned Disney+ reboot would no longer be going ahead.

In a lengthy post, the mother-of-two wrote: “I’ve been so honoured to have the character of Lizzie in my life.
“She has made such a lasting impact on many, including myself. To see the fans’ loyalty and love for her, to this day, means so much to me.
“I know the efforts and conversations have been everywhere trying to make a reboot work, but sadly and despite everyone’s best efforts, it isn’t going to happen.
“I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today. It’s what the character deserves.”

“We can all take a moment to mourn the amazing woman she would have been and the adventures we would have taken with her.
“I’m very sad, but I promise everyone tried their best and the stars just didn’t align. Hey now, this is what 2020s made of,” she concluded the post, making reference to a song from the Lizzie McGuire movie.
Fans were devastated by the news, with one commenting: “I hate this year.”
A second wrote: “2020 strikes againðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜”, while a third penned: “This isn’t what dreams are made of :(“.
The news comes after Hilary announced her third pregnancy.
The singer is expecting her second child with husband Matthew Koma, who she married in 2019.
The couple share 2-year-old Banks Violet Bair, while Hilary is also mum to her eight-year-old son Luca, who share shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie.
