Hailey Bieber responds after fans accuse her of ‘throwing shade’ at Selena Gomez

Awkward...

Hailey Bieber has denied reports that she threw shade at Selena Gomez, after she released a song about her toxic relationship with Justin Bieber.

On Wednesday, the songstress dropped an emotional track called ‘Lose You to Love Me’, and the 27-year-old seems to reference her famous ex-boyfriend multiple times.

Not long after Selena released her new single, Hailey posted a screenshot of the song ‘I’ll Kill You’ by Summer Walker on her Instagram Story.

Fans were convinced this was her way of hitting back at Selena, but the model has insisted that this isn’t the case.

Hailey bluntly told Just Jared: “Please stop with this nonsense. There is no ‘response.’ This is complete BS.”

Selena also seemed to address the drama during an Instagram Live on Wednesday, as she encouraged her fans to be “kind to everyone”.

She said: “I am so grateful for the response of the song. However, I will never stand for women tearing other women down. So please be kind to everyone.”

“Please be kind, I don’t like seeing people being disrespectful or rude to other people, so please don’t do that.”

In her new song, Selena sings about learning to love herself after letting go of a hurtful relationship.

On one verse, she sings, “Set fire to my purpose and I let it burn / You got off in the hurtin’ when I wasn’t yours,” which fans think is a reference to Justin’s 2015 album Purpose.

Later in the song, Selena also points out how fast Justin moved on with Hailey last year.

She sings, “In two months you replaced us like it was easy / Made me think I deserved it in the thick of healing.”

Following their break up in 2014, Selena and Justin reunited in late 2017, but called it quits in March of last year.

Not long after, Justin started hanging out with his ex Hailey again, and the pair got engaged while in the Bahamas in July.

Last October, it was reported that Selena was “hit hard” by Justin and Hailey’s engagement, before the singer suffered an alleged “emotional breakdown”.

Selena dropped the emotional song just weeks after Justin and Hailey tied the knot in front of their celebrity friends in South Carolina.

In a statement, Selena said: “This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album.”

“I thought it was important to share the music, as I know many can relate to the fact that the road to self-discovery generally comes through the scars in one’s life.”

“I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself,” she added.
