Gwyneth Paltrow’s website pays $145,000 in lawsuit over vaginal eggs

Gwyneth Paltrow’s website, Goop, has paid $145,000 in a lawsuit over vaginal eggs.

The website claims that the eggs “cultivate sexual energy, clear chi pathways in the body, intensify femininity, and invigorate our life force”.

A lawsuit was brought against the website by California’s consumer protection office, as it was stated that the website does not have any scientific proof of the alleged benefits of the eggs.

“The health and money of Santa Clara County residents should never be put at risk by misleading advertising,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a written statement.

“We will vigilantly protect consumers against companies that promise health benefits without the support of good science…or any science.”

Goop also released a statement that it “believes there is an honest disagreement about these claims, the company wanted to settle this matter quickly and amicably. This settlement does not indicate any liability on Goop’s part”.

The eggs are still for sale, but the company is prohibited from claiming health benefits of the items without sufficient scientific proof.

The payout also applies to the company’s ‘flower essence’ which the website claimed could cure depression.
