Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that she “never had a problem” standing up to Harvey Weinstein.

The actress marked the 20th anniversary of her Oscar win for Shakespeare in Love in a new interview with Variety – in which she opened up about her relationship with Harvey, who she described as a “bully”.

The popular rom-com was produced by the disgraced film mogul through his former company Miramax, and Gwyneth has alleged that he asked her for a massage when she was just 22.

Gwyneth confessed, “I had one really uncomfortable, weird experience; then he was never inappropriate with me again in that way.”

“I never had a problem standing up to him. I wasn’t scared of him,” she continued. “I also felt for a period of time, I was the consumer face of Miramax, and I felt it was my duty to push back against him. We had a lot of fights.”

After describing Harvey as a “a very difficult boss”, the 46-year-old said, “It was a fraught relationship. We would get in knock-down, drag-out fights.”

“I remember once, my mother [Blythe Danner] walked in a room, and I was yelling at him about something. She was like, ‘Who was that on the phone?'”

After Gwyneth said she was on the phone with Harvey, her mother replied: “Oh, my goodness, good for you. Stand up for yourself.”

Gwyneth previously revealed that Brad Pitt threatened to kill Harvey, after he allegedly tried to lure her into his hotel room and asked for a massage.

The actress dated Brad for three years until 1997, and Gwyneth confided in her then-boyfriend after the alleged incident took place.

During an interview on Howard Stern, Gwyneth revealed that Brad approached Harvey on the opening night of a Broadway production of ‘Hamlet’.

She recalled: “He told me exactly what he said. He said, ‘If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you.’”

“It was the equivalent of throwing him against the wall, energetically. He leveraged his fame and power to protect me at a time when I didn’t have fame or power yet … he’s the best. I love him for this.”

Over 70 women have accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct, but the film producer has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.
