Glee stars share heartfelt tributes to Naya Rivera – after actress is found dead

A host of Glee stars have paid tribute to their late co-star and friend Naya Rivera.

The 33-year-old, who played Santana Lopez during the show’s run, was found dead on Monday in Lake Piru – five days after she went missing on the lake in Southern California.

Not long before Naya’s body was found on Monday morning, a number of her co-stars had gathered at the lake to pray for her.

In a poignant image shared on social media, the stars joined members of Naya’s family as they held hands at the edge of the lake.

A host of her cast mates have since payed tribute to her on social media.

Chris Colfer, who portrayed Kurt Hummel in Glee, shared a sweet throwback photo with Naya on Instagram, alongside a heartfelt message.

“How can you convey all your love and respect for someone in one post? How can you summarize a decade of friendship and laughter with words alone? If you were friends with Naya Rivera, you simply can’t,” he started the post.

“Her brilliance and humor were unmatched. Her beauty and talent were otherworldly. She spoke truth to power with poise and fearlessness. She could turn a bad day into a great day with a single remark. She inspired and uplifted people without even trying,” he continued.

“Being close to her was both a badge of honor and a suit of armor. Naya was truly one of a kind, and she always will be. ???? Sending all my love to her wonderful family and her beautiful son.”

Amber Riley, who played Mercedes Jones in the hit TV series, posted a heartbreaking video of the late actress and her four-year-old son Josey singing together.

The 34-year-old also called Naya her “favourite duet partner.”

“My favourite duet partner. I love you. I miss you. I don’t have words right now, just lots of feelings. Rest In Peace Angel, and know that your family will never have to worry about anything,” she penned.

Jenna Ushkowitz, who played Tina Cohen-Chang in Glee, also shared a touching tribute to Naya on Instagram.

She wrote: “There are no words and yet so many things I want to say, I don’t believe I’ll ever be able to articulate exactly what I feel but… Naya, you were a ⚡️ force and everyone who got to be around you knew it and felt the light and joy you exuded when you walked into a room. You shined on stage and screen and radiated with love behind closed doors.”

“I was lucky enough to share so many laughs, martinis and secrets with you. I can not believe I took for granted that you’d always be here,” she continued.

“Our friendship went in waves as life happens and we grow, so I will not look back and regret but know I love you and promise to help the legacy of your talent, humor, light and loyalty live on.”

“You are so loved. You deserved the world and we will make sure Josey and your family feel that everyday. I miss you already,” she added.

On Twitter, Jane Lynch, who played cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester for the show’s six seasons, wrote: “Rest sweet, Naya. What a force you were.”

Kevin McHale, who portrayed Artie Abrams in the hit series, tweeted: “My Naya, my Snixxx, my Bee. I legitimately can not imagine this world without you.”

Kevin also shared his belief that Cory Monteith helped lead searchers to her body.

Naya was found on the 7th anniversary of Corey’s death. The actor died back in 2013 following an overdose.

Kevin tweeted: “I’m not religious by any means, but you’d be hard-pressed to convince me that Cory didn’t help find our girl today. These 2, in many ways, were the male and female versions of one another. So nice, cared deeply, were stupidly talented, the most fun, and really really good people.”

Becca Tobin, who played Kitty Wilde in Glee, also took to Instagram to pay tribute to Naya.

The actress described her late co-star as “insanely talented, breathtakingly gorgeous, and one of the wittiest people” she has ever met.

She also informed her followers that Naya showed her “instant warmth and kindness” when she joined the show during its fourth season.

The news comes after Lea Michele broke her social media silence to pay tribute to Naya on Instagram.

On the latest episode of Goss Chats, Ali Ryan chats to Ronan Keating about his stat-studded upcoming music special, and working with Robbie Williams on a special new song dedicated to Stephen Gately.

#GossChats is sponsored by top aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve, which is now back open for bookings.
