The fate of the accountants responsible for epic Oscars flub has been revealed

Everyone is still talking about the incredibly embarrassing moment that La La Land was accidentally announced as Best Picture at the Oscars on Sunday instead of Moonlight.

Now it has been revealed whether or not the accounts responsible, from PricewaterhouseCoopers, will be out of jobs.

Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs has confirmed that the Oscars will no longer be working with the two accountants who had been tasked with keeping the winning envelopes safe and distributing them correctly.

They won’t be invited back: The Oscars have parted ways with the two accountants responsible for the wrong Best Picture winner announcement

She told the Associated Press that they are still reviewing whether or not they will continue to use PwC in future, who have been responsible for tallying the Oscar votes for 83 years.

Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz, the two accountants responsible, will however remain as partners at the firm.

Cullinan had tweeted – and then deleted – a photo of Emma Stone holding her Best Actress Oscar before the shocking mix-up, and apparently had been told not to tweet during the show.

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway accidentally announced the wrong winner after being given a duplicate copy of the winning Best Actress envelope.
