Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez recently rekindled their romance but social media posts this week have fans fearful that the couple may be on the rocks again.
The Wolves singer had an on and off relationship with Bieber from 2011 to 2015 and had been attending couples counselling with him in recent weeks.
Mandy Teefy, Selena’s mum, was rushed to hospital a month ago after taking news of the pair’s reconciliation badly. The mother and daughter subsequently unfollowed each other on Instagram.
This week, Bieber’s mum, Pattie Mallette posted a sweet tribute to her son on Instagram and said how proud she is of the man he has become and his growing relationship with God.
“None of us are perfect and never will be, (so we will always need patience and grace for each other), but your genuine growing relationship with Jesus is evident in the choices you are making daily and the good “fruit” you bear.”
Some Jelena fans fear this signals that the pair have broken up but others are hopeful that it is a plea for Selena’s mum to come around to the relationship.
While holidaying in the Maldives a post of Bieber’s in which he is hugging a palm tree captioned “Now I know what love is” sparked further fears that the relationship was over.
Since being snapped going to mass with Selena at the end of November, he has been making a big effort to become more religious. Is he trying to absolve sins and seek forgiveness for past wrongs?
Gomez hasn’t posted on Instagram since the 7th of January, an unusually long break for her.
Bieber’s ambiguous social media messages will keep us guessing.
