Facebook issues an apology following complaints of the removal of a Burt Reynolds image

Facebook has issued an apology following complaints of the removal of a Burt Reynolds image.

The actor passed away, aged 82, on Thursday as a result of a cardiac arrest.

Many images of the iconic actor posing nude for Cosmopolitan’s first male centrefold in 1972 circulated Facebook since his time of death.

The iconic picture was flagged due to nudity on Facebook and many users complained to the platform as the images were automatically removed.

Facebook has since apologised for the removal of the photographs and released a statement to Fox News which said: “We are restoring the image as it does not break our standards and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

A spokesperson for the company said that “the image in question was mistakenly removed.”
