Empire cast ‘send letter to executives saying they stand with Jussie Smollett’

The cast of Empire reportedly sent a letter to executives saying that they stand with Jussie Smollett.

The actor was originally accused of filing a false police report earlier this year, but last month the criminal charges against him were dropped.

A lot of Jussie’s fellow cast members on Empire have remained supportive of the actor throughout the controversy and according to E! News, some of them penned a letter to Fox and Disney executives calling for the return of the 37-year-old for season six of the show.

It is unknown whether or not the actor will continue starring in the programme, after producers released a statement confirming they had removed his character from the last two episodes of the current season.

The online publication has now reported that Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson and other stars of the show wrote a letter to producers and said: “Together, as a united front, we stand with Jussie Smollett and ask that our co-star, brother and friend be brought back for our sixth season of Empire.

“Throughout Empire‘s five seasons working with Jussie and watching how he has conducted himself throughout this traumatic event, we have come to know not just the character Jussie portrays, but also truly come to know Jussie’s personal character.”

“He is kind. He is compassionate. He is honest and above all he is filled with integrity. He is also innocent and no longer subject to legal uncertainty with the criminal charges against him having been dropped.”

The celebs added that they wanted Jussie to continue starring in the programme so “we can all put this behind us and move forward.”
