Donald Trump brands Madonna as ‘disgusting’ after Women’s March speech

The US President also took aim at Alec Baldwin

Donald Trump has branded Madonna as “disgusting”, after her controversial speech at the Women’s March in Washington DC.

The superstar admitted that she had thought about “blowing up the White House”, and now Donald Trump has responded to her claims.

In an interview with Fox News, the US President said, “Honestly, she’s disgusting. I think she hurt herself very badly. I think she hurt that whole cause.

“I thought her and a couple of others. But I thought she was in particular, I thought what she said was disgraceful to our country.”

In her speech, Madonna exclaimed, “I’m angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House. But I know that this won’t change anything.

“We cannot fall into despair. As the poet W. H. Auden once wrote on the eve of World War Two, ‘We must love one another or die.’ I choose love. Are you with me?”

Despite reports that the Secret Service were going to open an investigation after her claims about “blowing up the White House”, the 58-year-old defended her comments on Instagram.

“I am not a violent person, I do not promote violence and it’s important people hear and understand my speech in it’s entirety rather than one phrase taken wildly out of context,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Donald also hit out at Alec Baldwin, who regularly spoofs the US President, and Saturday Night Live’s Katie Rich, who made an insensitive joke about his 10-year-old son Barron.

The writer, who has since been suspended from the show, tweeted that Barron would be the “country’s first homeschool shooter”.

“It’s a failing show, and Alec Baldwin’s a disaster. But for NBC to attack my 10-year-old son is a disgrace,” Donald said.

Katie Rich has since taken to Twitter to apologise for the joke, writing, “I sincerely apologise for the insensitive tweet. I deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I’m so sorry.”
