Carrie Fisher's death has caused the company to rethink the script

Disney will reportedly decide on the future of Princess Leia in Star Wars: Episode 9.

Carrie Fisher, who starred as the sci-fi heroine, passed away after suffering a heart attack just after Christmas.

Her death has caused the scriptwriters and the director, Colin Trevorrow, to reconsider the storyline.

Challenge: Disney have to rethink the script for Star Wars: Episode 9 | DISNEY/LUCAS FILMS

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Colin will meet with Lucas Films on January 10th discuss script rewrites, scene reshoots, and possibly the use of CGI.

Leia was set to feature in two keys scene in the film, but now the film makers are looking at Rogue One’s use of CGI to make Carrie appear young again to tackle their issue in the new Star Wars film.

“I have no doubt, given some of the recent work I’ve seen, there are filmmakers who will be willing to take up the challenge,” Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Michael Fink said.

“So far, we have seen moments of success but not full performances.”

Using CGI, they would not need to change the script – however, if it can’t be done, then the whole script will need to change.
