Katy Perry has angered Britney Spears fans after she made a joke about the singer’s infamous 2007 mental breakdown.
The Fireworks singer answered a question about why she took a long break between albums saying, “That’s called taking care of your mental health.”
When Ryan Seacrest asked her how her time off had gone, she replied, “Fantastic. And I haven’t shaved my head yet.”
The 32-year-old was referencing when Britney was pictured shaving her head after reportedly leaving rehab almost exactly a decade ago in 2007.
Many fans took to Twitter to blast Katy Perry for her comment, “Have always liked Katy Perry very much, have even met her. But after what she said last night, I’ve lost a lot of respect for her. Making a joke about mental health issues isn’t OK.”
The hashtag #KatyPerryIsOver has began to trend worldwide.
