Courteney Cox says being separated from Irish beau Johnny McDaid during the pandemic was ‘hard’

Courteney Cox has opened up about being separated from her Irish boyfriend Johnny McDaid during the pandemic.

The Friends star lives in Malibu, California with her 17-year-old daughter Coco, while her musician beau was stuck in the UK during the lockdown.

During her appearance on Sirius XM’s The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, Courtney said it “was definitely hard” maintaining a long-distance relationship with Johnny.

The actress said: “People from the U.K., they still can’t come to America. You’re not allowed in still, which is crazy. He’s been vaccinated and he can’t come in. I don’t understand it.”

“People can go from Florida to Los Angeles, no quarantine. I don’t get it. I don’t know why they can’t come to America and quarantine the way I did.”

Courteney, who was calling in from London, added: “I’ve been on this five-day test and release. I’m going out tonight, can’t wait. I don’t mean out, just to a restaurant.”

“I just want to go out – literally, out of the apartment. I have not left [Johnny’s apartment] except to get a nose swab at Heathrow [Airport].”

When asked by host Howard whether she and Johnny engaged in “Zoom intimacy” while they were apart, Courteney replied: “Zoom intimacy? We’re very intimate, but I don’t know how to do that [on Zoom]. There’s other kinds of intimacy.”

Courteney and Johnny finally reunited in December after spending months apart.

The couple, who were introduced by mutual pal Ed Sheeran in 2013, split one year after they got engaged in 2014 – but they later rekindled their romance.

Courteney shares her 17-year-old daughter with her ex-husband David Arquette, who she was married to from 1999 to 2013.
