Transforming the grounds of his property into a replica of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chris played Willy Wonka for the night as he entertained his VIP guests.
Celebrities spotted at the lavish bash included Beyonce and husband Jay Z, Matthew Bellamy and girlfriend Elle Evans, Aaron Paul, James Corden and his wife Julia Carey, newly single Orlando Bloom, Julia Roberts and Robert Downey Jnr.
Earlier Chris’s ex Gwyneth Paltrow shared a sweet family selfie on Instagram, to wish her former husband of 13 years a happy birthday.
“HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY to the best daddy in the world!!!,” she wrote.
“We [heart] you so much!,” sharing a photo with the birthday boy himself as well as their two children 12-year-old Apple and 10-year-old Moses.
