Cheryl has revealed that she was forced to get tested for STDs, after her ex-husband’s alleged infidelity hit headlines.

Between 2006-2010, four women came forward to claim that they had slept with the footballer, while he was married to Cheryl.

After the singer eventually left Ashley, she penned a seriously honest autobiography in 2012, in which she opened up about the scandal – and how her ex had left her exposed to potential STDs.

She wrote: “I had to face the fact that Ashley’s infidelity had been putting me at risk for a long time, and I had to put my mind at rest. I was given the all clear, but my emotional health was still in so much danger.”

The former Girls Aloud star admitted that initially she didn’t believe the women who came forward, but later small details made her second guess her marriage.

Cheryl explained: “One girl said they drank rosé wine in a hotel bedroom together, and that Ashley smoked.

“He does like rosé wine, and at first I told myself she could have seen him drinking it in the bar rather than sharing a bottle with him in the bedroom.

“The smoking, though? He’s a footballer and this wasn’t something he did in public. Hardly anybody knew he smoked.”

Cheryl also admitted that claims Ashley held one of the women’s hands in bed seriously pushed her over the edge.

“That hit a nerve, a big one. The description ‘like relationship sex’ was so painful to read I blocked it out totally; I couldn’t deal with it.”

“I pushed the papers away, feeling sick at the smell of the newsprint, and then I actually vomited,” she added.

After four years of marriage, Cheryl and Ashley divorced in 2010.

The singer went on to marry French restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in 2014, but the pair divorced in 2016.

Moving on from JB, Cheryl started dating former 1D star Liam Payne, and the couple welcomed their first child, Bear, in March 2017.

Sadly, the couple split in July of this year, but they’re continuing to co-parent their one-year-old son.
