Cardi B reveals she wanted Lizzo to star in her WAP music video

Cardi B has revealed that she wanted Lizzo to star in her star-studded WAP music video.

The hit song by Cardi and Megan Thee Stallion sees famous faces such as Kylie Jenner, Normani and Rosalía in the hit video – but the rapper admitted there was one celebrity missing from her “vision”.

“I’m cool with Lizzo and everything. Like, we’ve been sending DMs to each other and all that,” she told New York Post’s Page Six.

“But she was on vacation and she wasn’t in town.”

“I was like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ because I had a whole vision about how I want to see Lizzo and everything,” she added.

Cardi revealed that “it was so important to me to include different women that are different races and come from different backgrounds but are so powerful and influential.”

The 27-year-old previously said that shooting a music video during the coronavirus pandemic came with a big price tag, telling i-D: “We had to spend $100,000 dollars just on testing.

“Everybody on the shoot had to get tested for coronavirus.”

“It was kind of weird shooting the video in the age of corona.”

She added: “We had a tiger and a leopard there, but we didn’t film with them in there because of safety and because of the pandemic. We spliced those scenes together.”

Cardi admitted she did not expect the songs “controversial” lyrics to get the reaction that they did.

“I knew it was gonna have a big impact, I guess, because of me and Megan,” she shared, “But I didn’t know it was going to be so controversial.”

“I never expected that, you know, conservatives and Republicans were going to be talking about the song,” the mother-of-one continued.

“I didn’t think the song was as vulgar as they said it was, you know? Like, I’m so used to it. I’m such a freak that I didn’t think it would be a big deal. I didn’t think people would think it was so out of this world …”

“It doesn’t make me angry,” she told the publication, “It makes me happy. They keep talking and the numbers keep going up. At the end of the day, whatever they’re saying, the numbers speak for themselves.”
