Britney Spears’ fans are calling for her to be ‘released’ from a psychiatric facility

Fans have been protesting in Hollywood

Fans of Britney Spears are calling for her to be released from a psychiatric facility.

On Monday, a group of protesters gathered outside City Hall in West Hollywood, carrying “Free Britney” signs.

The protestors, who chanted “Justice for Britney”, believe the singer is being kept from making her own decisions on her own behalf.

Last month, Britney checked into a mental health facility, as she was reportedly struggling to deal with her father’s illness.

However despite fan’s beliefs, sources have told TMZ that Britney checked herself into rehab.

The news comes after Britney was granted one-day leave from the facility on Easter Sunday, to spend the day with her family.

The mother-of-two was photographed leaving the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills on April 21 with her boyfriend.

Back in November, the songstress put her Las Vegas residency on hold in order to focus on her father’s recovery.

At the time, she said: “A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time.”

Britney has been under a conservatorship since 2008, after she suffered a breakdown in 2007.
