Brie Larson says her decision to not clap for Casey Affleck at the Oscars ‘speaks for itself’

Brie Larson is talking about her decision not to clap for Casey Affleck at the Oscars.

The actress presented the Best Actor award to the Manchester by the Sea star, who has been accused of sexual harassment, and noticeably didn’t applaud as she stood on stage after his win.

“I think that whatever it was that I did onstage kind of spoke for itself,” she told Vanity Fair at the Los Angeles premiere of Kong: Skull Island on Wednesday.

Brie – who played a victim of sexual assault in Room – added: “I’ve said all that I need to say about that topic.”

The 27-year-old also appeared on Live! With Kelly on Thursday, where she revealed that she has “no memory” of her time presenting at the ceremony.

Brie is an advocate for victims of sexual assault, and Casey has been sued by two women for sexual harassment stemming from his time working on the film I’m Still Here.

He is rumoured to have settled the two cases for millions of dollars.

Last year at the Oscars, Brie hugged every one of the sexual assault survivors who appeared on stage with Lady Gaga for her performance of When It Happens To You.
