Brie Larson reveals famous friends Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone ‘saved my life’

Becoming a Hollywood A-lister is a big adjustment, and Brie Larson credits her famous friends with helping her to navigate these tricky waters.

The actress opened up to Vanity Fair magazine – which she graces the cover of – about her close bond with Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone.

The trio were put in touch by Woody Harrelson, who they have all collaborated with, and Brie was extremely grateful to have the stars as friends after feeling isolated while doing a press tour for Room.

“I felt lonely and bad sometimes. I was embarrassed to keep talking about myself,” she admitted. “Emma wrote this beautiful e-mail out of nowhere, and then one day Jen sent me a text message after she saw Room, and we started talking.”

The text message with Jennifer turned into a group chat with Amy Schumer and Lena Dunham, who also offered kind words to Brie ahead of her big Oscar win.

“That [group of friends] saved my life,” she told Vanity Fair. “I was able to talk with them about everything that was going on in my life, and it was with people who had been through it before and are also hilarious.

“That support and acceptance was everything. I was home-schooled, so I didn’t have friends that had the same interests as me, and I found it to be absolutely incredible.”

Brie has become extremely close to Emma and shared a photo of them hugging after Emma won the Best Actress Oscar for La La Land – a year after Brie took home the award for Room.

The 27-year-old’s career has gone from strength to strength ever since and she will recently starred in Kong: Skull Island and Free Fire, will soon be releasing her directorial debut Unicorn Store, and is set to play Captain Marvel.
