Angelina Jolie opens up about Bell’s palsy diagnosis and split from Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie is finally discussing her split from Brad Pitt.

In a candid new interview with Vanity Fair, the actress reveals that “things got bad” between the couple last summer, by the time she had finished filming First They Killed My Father in Cambodia.

“I didn’t want to use that word … Things became ‘difficult,’” Angelina added, before claiming that rumours Brad wanted a more stable family life are untrue.

“[Our lifestyle] was not in any way a negative. That was not the problem. That is and will remain one of the wonderful opportunities we are able to give our children … They’re six very strong-minded, thoughtful, worldly individuals. I’m very proud of them.”

The Oscar winner is getting used to life in the wake of the shocking split and recently purchased a $25million mansion in Los Angeles.

“It’s just been the hardest time, and we’re just kind of coming up for air. [This house] is a big jump forward for us, and we’re all trying to do our best to heal our family,” she said.

Angelina admitted Brad’s candid GQ interview didn’t surprise her, explaining, “We care for each other and care about our family, and we are both working towards the same goal.”

She added: “I was very worried about my mother, growing up—a lot. I do not want my children to be worried about me. I think it’s very important to cry in the shower and not in front of them. They need to know that everything’s going to be all right even when you’re not sure it is.”

Angelina also revealed that she was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, which causes one side of the face to droop from damage to facial nerves, and acupuncture helped her to recover.

“Sometimes women in families put themselves last, until it manifests itself in their own health,” she shared.
