Alyssa Milano calls for women to ‘sex strike’ following new reproductive laws

Actress and activist Alyssa Milano is calling for women to go on a ‘sex strike.’

The call to action comes following a new law being formed in the state of Georgia, which restricts women’s access to a termination.

The new law prohibits terminations after 6 weeks, and carries a potential 10 year prison sentence for Georgia women who seek terminations outside the state.

Taking to Twitter, the actress wrote: “Our reproductive rights are being erased.”

“Until women have legal control over our own bodies we just cannot risk pregnancy.”

“JOIN ME by not having sex until we get bodily autonomy back. I’m calling for a #SexStrike. Pass it on.”

Alyssa’s call has had a mixed response from the public, with some tweeting that abstinence will not turn back the bill.

A number of actors and film makers signed an open letter in March, in which they pledged not to work in Georgia should the law pass.

TV shows such as Sharp Objects, The Walking Dead, and Stranger Things have all been filmed in Georgia.

Blockbuster films including Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame have also shot scenes there.

Alyssa Milano is often vocal about issues close to her heart. She previously penned an open letter to Matt Damon following sexual misconduct comments.
