The 55-year-old, who is the father of model Hailey Baldwin, wrote: “Asking for your prayers tonight friends.”

“Not much can be said other than please pray for all involved in the wake of this tragic accident. Thank you.”

According to a press release shared by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, Alec “discharged” a prop firearm on the set, which fatally shot Halyna and injured Joel.

Officers were called to the Bonanza Creek Ranch in New Mexico, where the incident occurred, at about 1.50 pm on Thursday, after receiving a 911 call.

Halyna, 42, was transported via helicopter to the University of New Mexico Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Joel, 48, was brought to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center by ambulance, and was later discharged after being treated.

In a statement obtained by E! News, Alec’s rep confirmed there was “an accident” involving “the misfire of a prop gun with blanks” while filming his upcoming movie ‘Rust’ in New Mexico.

The spokesperson added: “Production has been halted for the time being. The safety of our cast and crew remains our top priority.”

Goss.ie has reached out to Alec Baldwin’s rep for further comment.

Juan Rios, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said: “This investigation remains open and active. No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives.”

It’s understood detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged.

According to a statement released by Rust Movie Productions LLC, the entire cast and crew are “absolutely devastated” over the tragedy.

Offering their “deepest condolences” to Halyna’s family and loved ones, the production company said: “We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation.”

“We will be providing counseling services to everyone connected to the film as we work to process this awful event.”
