A$AP Rocky released from jail

A$AP Rocky has been released from prison in Sweden.

A court in Stockholm allowed the rapper to await the outcome of his assault trial from the United States and has allowed him to return home.

The musician had been in a Swedish jail for the last month, after being accused of assault.

Kim Kardashian had lobbied the US government to intervene, with US President Donald Trump speaking directly to the Swedish President, in hopes of dropping the case.

The Stockholm District Court has not yet made a ruling in the case but said on Friday that A$AP Rocky and his two co-defendants were free to leave Sweden.

A judgment will then be delivered on August 14th.

The 30-year-old, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, had been in custody since July 3rd.

After his release, he thanked the court and his supporters in a message posted to his Instagram.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my fans, friends and anyone across the globe who supported me during these last few weeks,” he said.

“This has been a very difficult and humbling experience,” he added.

Trump had previously Tweeted about the case, saying he demanded the release of the rapper.

But Swedish authorities repeatedly stressed that the country’s government is “not allowed, and will not attempt, to influence the legal proceedings.”

After the rapper’s release, Trump tweeted: “A$AP Rocky released from prison and on his way home to the United States from Sweden. It was a Rocky Week, get home ASAP A$AP!”

The musician and two of his entourage are facing charges of assault, which can land them with a prison sentence of up to two years.
