Will you be following these 5 NYFW beauty trends?

While many were checking out the new shapes, fabrics and cuts for Autumn Winter at New York Fashion Week – others were keeping a close eye on what’s new in the beauty world.

A time to explore the upcoming trends, beauty lovers noticed a real juxtaposition between next season’s make-up looks.

There were two very different but striking styles that made a splash at this years NYFW – gothic punk and polished preppy.

With both trends owning the runway, Goss.ie checks out what will be taking over our make-up bags next season:

1. Punky Goth

Gothic black lips, sooty eyes and pale skin were the main event at Marc Jacobs’ NYFW runway show.

Think Alice Cooper, think KISS (sans thick white facepaint that is) when attempting this high-fashion look.

Although not to everyone’s taste, this trend goes continues the 90’s grunge revival we’ve seen in fashion over the past 12 months.

Rodarte and Alexander Wang brought some punk inspired vibes to their AW catwalks with plum lips and reddened eyes too.

2. Graphic Eyes

One thing that was for sure is there’s a focus on eyes this Autumn Winter.

Seen all over NYFW’s runways, smudged, random lined and graphic designs are big on the beauty scene next season.

Eschewing the classic feline flick, designers Altuzarra and Anna Sui worked the look into there collections while keeping the rest of the face very clean and simple.

If you’re looking to add a pop of colour follow Jeremy Scott’s lead by using cobalt blue liner and glitter.

3. Polished Plaits

Ever since the Kardashians started rocking the pigtail plaits last year, it seems everyone is wearing them.

Perhaps taking their inspiration from the famous television family, plaits made a vivid splash on the AW catwalk.

Instead of ethereal messy plaits, it’s all about the sleek do with perfect plaits seen at Mansur Gavriel.

4. Bright Red Lip

It’s hard to call a red lip a trend as it’s one of the most classic beauty looks in history.

Like always, it was all over Naeem Khan and Victoria Beckham’s runways but in a matte, opaque finish rather than the vibrant colours we saw on Spring Summer’s runways.

AW beauty is very much about the put-together polished woman so think cherry, crimson and scarlet hues when achieving the look.

5. Low Ponytails

Moving away from the messy do’s from SS16, sleek low ponytails made a major appearance on the runways for next season.

Designers Victoria Beckham, Yigal Azrouël, Proenza Schouler and Kate Spade all sported the chic look on their catwalks.

The style is definitely about the centre parting, sleek look and if you want to dress it up add a black velvet ribbon.
