WATCH: Red Rock cast say goodbye to creator Peter McKenna

Red Rock creator Peter McKenna has left the TV3 soap – and the cast and crew have said goodbye in the best way.

The former Eastenders writer came on board last year to create TV3’s first ever soap, and now he is leaving for good.

“After a brilliant year, today is my final day on @RedRockTV3 – and they made me a lovely video,” he wrote.

Peter has an impressive CV of writing credits, including shows like Holby City, Musketeers and The Clinic.

A TV3 spokeswoman told Goss.ie: “Peter only intended to work on the first series. He is moving on to other projects (like the musketeers) and also he’s looking forward to spending more time with his family.

“As creator he will always be that and he is across all of the long term story planning for the remainder of first series AND will still be writing six more scripts before end of the year.

Moving on: Peter has left Red Rock

“Gareth Phillips who has been lead producer [Editorial] is taking over and will work alongside the other group of script writers in Red Rock,” the spokeswoman said to Goss.ie.
