If you’re wondering why Centenary has been trending all over your Twitter and Facebook timelines, it’s because RTÉ just pulled off the greatest piece of art to date.
Some of the country’s best known singers, musicians and performers came together for Centenary – a special show in Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Rising.
While there has been some incredible events on this weekend to remember the historic event that changed our nation forever, this RTÉ show truly captivated everybody.
Artists including Imelda May, Jack Lukeman, Gavin James, The High Kings, Colm Wilkinson, Danny O’Reilly, Roisin O, Sharon Shannon and Seo Linn all performed.
People quickly took to Twitter to compare the show to Riverdance, with users admitting they felt prouder than ever to be Irish:
The last time I got goosebumps like this was at the 1st ever performance of Riverdance. #Centenary is nothing short of a masterpiece #1916
