TV3 denies axing Brian McFadden as Toy Show host

TV3 have insisted that they did not axe Brian McFadden after they didn’t invite him back to host this years Toy Show.

The station announced yesterday that the hosts for its second toy show will be popular presenter Brian Ormond and former Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh.

Brian hosted the show last year with Xposé’s Karen Koster, however Karen has limited her work schedule this year to focus on her family, so the station also decided to replace Brian.

“We just wanted to go with someone new. He wasn’t axed, we hadn’t considered him for the role this year,” a spokesperson for the station told the Herald.

The station said they were not planning on having different hosts each year, with a spokesperson saying: “We’ll see how it goes this year.”

Brian McFadden was involved in some controversy following last year’s show after he got into a row with a community radio host over his appearance and fee.

He told Near FM DJ Jamie Jay Car that he was going to receive “probably your salary” for his appearance on the show.

The situation worsened for Brian when his UK-based accountant mistakenly emailed his €5,000 invoice for his stint on the Toy Show to the entire TV3 newsroom.

The TV3 Toy Show will air on Friday, November 20, at 9pm.
